The UN Sustainable Development Goals lit up the night
The hill of Ekeberg, famously portrayed in Edvard Munch’s painting “The Scream”, was light up with colourful lights, creating a stunning atmosphere for the hike. The 17 Global Goals were scattered throughout the tracks, not merely as a decoration but most importantly to share information about the goals.
- The event invitation: The World's Most Beautiful Night Trek - Oslo 2018
In 2015, the world adopted the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals: The global work plan to end poverty, fight inequality and halt climate change by 2030. The work is well underway.
To achieve the goals, everyone must know them. That is why the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, in cooperation with the Norwegian Tourist Association and the Norwegian Red Cross, is organising night treks with an important message at its core: We are hiking together for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Minister Astrup underscored the same, when addressing the hikers from the venue’s stage in Oslo, stating that the goals apply to everyone and the choices each one of us make will affect others.
People of all ages participated, strengthening the message that the SDGs provide a global response to our common challenges and that we need to act on them globally, nationally and locally.
